Thanksgiving Day
Last week, I had fantasized that I would celebrate Thanksgiving by roasting myself a small, fresh turkey, with delectable gravy and stuffing...and a few side relishes to boot.
That was last week.
I haven’t made much progress on the infection front, so I still find it almost impossible to eat. Instead of sitting down at a table filled with delicious victuals, lovingly prepared, I am sitting in front of my LCD monitor, keyboard at my fingertips. Glass of wine within easy reach.
And I’m grateful for all of this.
All of it.
Every bit of it.
And all of you.

I'm sorry this Thanksgiving isn't what you wanted it to be. I'm also sorry you're still feeling so sick. I hope it's a happy Thanksgiving for you in spite of that.
By the way, I'm curious to know which wine you've chosen. Care to share those details?
please be well soon, friend.
*sigh* It's ok...turkey is over rated anyway :)
Happy thanksgiving and get well soon.
Oh sweety please get well soon... ahhhh wine the cure all.... aren't you lucky to be able to partake in that nectar!
awwww...thank you JOnas. I am not American and have never celebrated thsnksgiving, but I am thankful for yor blog and your gentle words of wisdom. I wish you a speedy recovery and enjoy your wine!

I didn't spend Thanksgiving the way I wanted to either, but it ended up being a wonderful one anyway, which I am very very grateful for.
Thinking of you, and the illness you have been dealing with darling man, it will pass...hopefully soon.
Warm wishes for your return to bushy tail and cold nose soon, Jonas.
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia; I try all the same. Thoughts to you...
Thank you, Dear Hearts, for your kind and caring comments. I'm touched...truly.
Oh, Anna, I'm afraid my choice of wine will sorely disappoint. I was drinking a 2004 Fetzer "Valley Oaks" Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a wine with all of the maturity, sophistication and subtlety of a pimply-faced teenager. Unlike a teenager, however, it is ridiculously cheap...
"...gentle words of wisdom"??? I wish I were wise. I'm the man in the corner perpetually pondering: "if only..."
I'll confess that I'm saddened, somewhat, for those who do not celebrate Thanksgiving. It is the simplest, purest and, in many ways, the most satisfying of holidays in that pantheon of things we celebrate. Giving thanks...it's good for the heart and soul.
Gratitude is often missing at the Thanksgiving table. Thanks for bringing the sentiment to the forefront.
Hope you get well soon! Wine always helps...
Hope you're on the mend!
We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, but we could do with something to lighten up the dark days of November.
But maybe not a feast - there's enought turkey at Christmas already.
How about a tropical sunshine day, especially imported from Hawaii.
Now that would be just grand in November.
