Haunted

I’ve been haunted by a particular song, a particular video. The lyrics kinda wormed their way into my marrow. I’m not sayin’ the song’s a masterpiece. I’m just sayin’...I’m haunted:

Much to think about. Selective amnesia. I've had it, and I have been the forgotten. We all have. There is so much wrong in the world it is hard to believe we can make a difference anymore. But we can. Singularly. So much more so when we stand together.

Hope you are well friend. Fall came and went, and we have no vineyard rides to show for it. Perhaps Spring :)

I've been riding, Annie. Even though the body aches, I keep pedaling...Just to see what might be beckoning just beyond the next hill...

As for cycling the vineyards? I pray to have that chance. I pray often to no one/nothing in particular...but...I pray often.

I believe there are days still left me. I believe I've still got me a few more miles in these battered legs o' mine. I believe there's strength enough left in them to bear me to the Pacific coast...to vineyards...and some mighty fine souls.

I gots folks to hug. And one of them is you.

P.S.

Annie, you're not one to be "forgotten". The proper adjective would be "unforgettable". Remember that.

Many people get "ear worms" -- the bit of a song that won't go away. You get "marrow worms" -- you're a deep on, Jonas.

It's a wonderful and terror-filled world. We stalk the truth like a wild animal set free in the most crowded city.

I'm not so sure I'm all that "deep", June. It's just that I've been contemplating the human condition for a lifetime. I'd say that's not all that unusual for the child of war refugees. I've grown up contemplating both the horrors and the glories.

It comforts me to know, Annie, that there are lights shining for me through the night. It takes a light to guide one home.

That's an interesting summation, Kass. I never thought of it that way, but it's true enough.
