Makes Sense
Lao-Tse
(5th century B.C.E.)
If there is to be peace in the world, there must be peace
in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations, there must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities, there must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors, there must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home, there must be peace
in the heart.

Gratuitous non-sequitor: Smoking Loon's 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is a
decent $8 bottle of wine. Hmmm...maybe this isn't a non-sequitor after all.
Peace in the heart and all that...

I love this quote. Lao-tse has lots of wisdom to share. Thanks for the post.
Makes perfect sense.....sigh.....
I wish you peace in your heart,Jon, knowing you has given that to me.
Thanks for stopping by, Ms. Luciluna. Methinks you may very well be the first opera singer to visit!
Thank you, Sunny. The feelings are mutual.
A wise man.
Did he mention how to find that peace in your heart?
Lao-Tse proferred the concept of the Tao, "The Way", the path to enlightenment. I find myself drifting deeper and deeper into contemplation of the Tao.
Peace in the heart. What a lovely destination.
You'll get there, Ms. Sally.
You. Will. Get. There.
Trust me on this. I'm old and gray. I know.
I love my avatar as well. It reminds me of my dogs. I have two beagles and they are nosy creatures, curious, sticking their noses into everything.
I love the baying of beagles when they are on scent. Cool, funky dogs, beagles are. Plus...they're cute!
Very cool I read this today.
Ah, Laurie. Thanks for dropping by. (My cats have been fretting all day about Tounces).
And then there's the Tao of Pooh (and the Te of Piglet)....lovely stuff too :)
Words to ponder, my love, words to ponder. I need to take this one to heart.
Ah, Sarah. I hope and pray you find peace in your heart and in your home.
Oh, Jonas....Tounces sends a playful paw your way...
Whoever relies on the Tao in governing men doesn't try to force issues or defeat enemies by force of arms.
For every force there is a counterforce.
Violence, even well intentioned, always rebounds upon oneself.
I keep a "Pocket Edition" of the Tao te Ching on my desk. Thanks for reminding me to read it again.
Amazing, isn't it, that human beings understood fundamental truths for 25 centuries...yet, we continue to behave in ways that run counter to all of that ancient wisdom!?!
